Characteristicts

The R/V PHILIA was built in 1986 in Piraeus, Greece. It is a multipurpose research vessel with an emphasis on experimental fishing. Because of its size it is very flexible and besides the open sea is ideal for coastal and shallow research. It mostly works in the Greek Seas and in the wider area of the Eastern Mediterranean. It has traveled thousands of miles by conducting exploratory oceanographic and fishing missions as well as technical work. It was rebuilt in 1997 and supplied with modern equipment. Its equipment is continually improving, so that it is always ready to carry out any task it is entrusted with. It is equipped with ROVs Max Rover and SeaBotix. It is based on the port of Heraklion, Crete.
